BOUT THE ECCS...
The East Cooper Concert Series was begun by Dr. Lorna (Tedesco) Barker in 1992 as a means to provide regular classical music performances East of the Cooper. Each concert features professional Lowcountry musicians and offers a variety of musical styles. ECCS offers concerts that provide a wide diversity of repertoire, all within a warm and friendly environment. ECCS is scheduling four concerts for 2013 - 2014 at Christ Episcopal Church, all beginning at 7:00 pm. The admission price to each concert is $10. Season subscriptions are available for $30 each.
The East Cooper Concert Series is 100% financially dependent on tickets at the door, business sponsorship and private donations. The contributed money pays musician fees and paper/postage costs. All involved with the organization of the series are volunteers.
The goal of the East Cooper Concert Series is to provide fun, informative, yet highly professional classical concerts in the East Cooper area. There are four concerts planned for this season, beginning in October and ending in April. The concerts will be approximately 75 minutes in length. The performers are very talented professional classical musicians who need a venue to perform their solo repertoire.
During each concert, these musicians will talk about their pieces, tell the audience what to listen for, share musical history and knowledge and grow their audience's appreciation of classical music. This is an opportunity to bridge that formal gap between performer and audience and audience and "concert." All concerts are held at Christ Church, 2304 Hwy. 17 North (light at 17 and Long Point).
Everyone involved with the series is a volunteer. Donations support the series, one can purchase an advertising spot in the program, or sponsor an individual concert. We are also encouraging a series subscription purchase of $30.
